Sifnos
The elegant Sifnos is the island of choice for all those seeking peace. The main harbor-city of Kamares lies on the western coast; the rest of the coastline is wild and dotted with beautiful anchorages including Vourlidia and the well protected Vathi. Not to be missed the fisherman village of Hersonissos on the north west tip of the island. On the east coast, you will find the quiet port of Platì Gialos set at the end of a long sandy bay lined with tavernas. Sifnos is renowned for its precious pottery and its tasty food. The main village of Apollonia, that can be reached by bus from Kamares and Plati Gialos, is very animated. A few kilometers from here, perched on a hill overlooking the eastern coast, you will discover the ancient Castle, a paradise of peace rich in archeological remains. The island is also dotted with monasteries, the most charming being Moni Hrisopygi, built to house an icon of the Virgin that was found at sea by two fishermen.
