Amorgos

A wonderful island out of the main commercial tourist routes, characterized by a very steep Eastern coast and a gentler Western one featuring peaceful beaches and tiny peninsulas. Amorgos boasts three picture-perfect villages: Chora, the main “city” of the island clung to the precipitous mountains towering over the Island; Aegiali, set between the gleaming sea water and the steep cliffs and Katapola, the main port built around a spectacular bay. But the main attraction on the island – a part from the sea whose nuances are impossible to forget – is the fantastic and snow-white Monastery of Hozoviotissis set in the rocks overhanging a marvellous bay. Every tourist travelling to Greece should include a visit to Amorgos!
